Second visit and loved it. The rooms are sizable, comfortable and clean. The staff are lovely. Had a wonderful breakfast and the lounge/bar area at night is cosy and inviting. Close to most places

We hosted a theme'd 50th birthday party at this venue recently. The room we used and service were fantastic. Very accomodating to allow us access the day before to get setup, and all the support in the lead up and on the night were top notch. Special callout to Melody for making herself available when we needed, and answering endless questions.

Stayed here a few months ago and I have to say, it was one of the most fun stays I've had. We booked 3 rooms for a family weekend getaway and were pleasantly surprised that one of our girls had received an upgrade. She found herself in the Chinese Honeymoon Suite. It still comes up in conversation and it's a source of great joy. Our room was lovely, but the bed was, and will continue to be, a source of raucous laughter in our family. To be fair, for someone of average height, the bed would have been perfect, but I'm 5 foot nothing and watching me try to get onto the bed was like watching me try to scale Mt Kosciuszko. We were all in fits of laughter. As some people have said, not everything worked perfectly, but honestly, this didn't put a dampener on our trip. We were loving the fact that we were staying in a historical building and just taking in all the old world charm. It made a refreshing change from modern hotels that are nice, but lacking personality. We loved the fact that every room was unique. If you're wanting a unique experience and don't mind things not being brand new, this is the perfect place to stay.

Stayed March 2026. The hotel is an experience. We stayed in a classic king room which was very well appointed and had a feel of an old style hotel. The bathroom was very clean with everything you need. Located in the centre of town within walking distance to everything you need. Sovereign Hill is a 10 minute drive from the hotel.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. The decor is amazing. Rooms are lovely. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Special mention to Heidi in the restaurant who remembered our needs and likes from day to day. Food in the dining area was excellent. Would definitely recommend a stay.

Craig’s Royal Hotel is such a beautiful hotel, built in the late 1800s and styled appropriately. It has had some very famous people stay over the years, several English princes, one who eventually became King, Mark Twain and Dame Nellie …

Amazing building that has been well looked after and a great place for a meal and a drink. Looking forward to trying the accommodation, the rooms look great. Didn't rate the rooms as did not experience that aspect. Needs special considerations for disability accessibility.

We stayed at Craigs Royal Hotel mid week and enjoyed it immensely. The heritage building is in truly remarkable condition with all the conveniences you would require. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the meals were quite good and the location central to all Ballarat has to offer. The rates were on par with other hotels of lesser standard. A unique experience, highly recommended.

Lovely heritage building. Our room was comfortable and clean. Beds were good with nice, clean linen. I had a really good night sleep. Shower had decent water pressure. Heated towel rack added a nice touch to the bathroom. Staffs were friendly and accommodating. The complimentary choc biccies at reception were delicious!
